RENEWING YOUR MIND IN THE WORD OF GOD SO WILL YOU BELIEVE WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT YOU

If we believe that we are saved by faith, then we better start believing what God says about us!

Who God says we are

We cannot define ourselves by our experiences. We have to define ourselves by what the word of God says about us.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Pray and Confess:

I am your masterpiece. Father God. Thank you for creating me anew  in Christ Jesus, so I can do the good things you planned for me long  ago.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Pray and Confess:

Father God, thank you for taking away from me the spirit of fear  and timidity and for giving me power, love, and self-discipline.

1 John 4:4 But  you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory  over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than  the spirit who lives in the world.

Pray and Confess:

I belong to God. I have already won a victory over those people,  because Your Spirit who lives in me is greater than the spirit who lives  in the world.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 18 And  all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through  Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For  God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting  people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of  reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

Pray and Confess:

I am in Christ and I am a new creature; the old things passed  away; behold, new things have come.  Thank you Father God for  reconciling me, to yourself through Christ and not counting my  trespasses against you. Thank you, Father for making Jesuswho knew no sin to be sin on my behalf so that I might become the righteousness of You in Him.

John 14:12-14 “I  tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I  have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the  Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

Pray and Confess:

Because I believe You Jesus, I can do even greater works because,  you have gone to be with the Father. I know that anything that I ask in  Your name, you will do it will do, so that you can bring glory to the  Father.

Romans 8:17 And  since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with  Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we  must also share his suffering.

Pray and Confess:

Thank you for making me your child and joint heirs of your glory with Christ.

1 Peter 2:9 But  you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal  priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can  show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness  into his wonderful light.

Pray and Confess:

I am a chosen people. I am a royal priest, a holy nation, I am I  am God’s very own possession. As a result, I can show others your  goodness Father God. Thank you for calling me out of the darkness into  your wonderful light.

So where do we find the truth of who we are – our past or the word of God?

Our brains are crafty and it’s easy to create a belief system around the very things that occupy our minds.

The enemy’s specialty is to conveniently reminds us of our past  experiences. This is exactly where the enemy wants us to spend our  thoughts. He is the great deceiver and without renewing our mind in the  Word of God, we will fall prey to the devil’s ways. As a result, we will  never become all that God has created us to be.

If we are rehearsing situations in our minds that are based on our  past experiences, rather than what the Word says about us or our  situation, we will never move forward with our walk with God.

It’s funny how we only see what you are thinking about. For example,  if you we are thinking of having a baby, the only thing we see  everywhere are pregnant women.

So, what do you think about?

If we constantly think about all our negative past experiences, then  that is all that our brain is going to see and register. In other words,  we will only see the negative in every situation, rather than looking  at a situation through God’s eyes/word.

We have to pay attention to what is constantly swirling in our mind,  because what we rehearse the most is how we define ourselves.

What do you rehearse in your mind?

We must build faith on what the word says about our future rather than put faith in our past.

Remember, we are new creatures and old things are passed away.

We have to stop building altars of your failures. Start building praises of God’s goodness.

Philippians 4:8 And  now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on  what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and  admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Pray and Confess:

Holy Spirit help me to fix my thoughts on what is true, and  honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Help me to  think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Renewing by the Word

Renew/renewing is present tense. We cannot be happy to have read (past tense) the Word of God. We need to live there constantly.

Isaiah 55:8-9 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” 9 For  just as the heavens are higher than the earth,  so my ways are higher  than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

Pray and Confess:

Thank you, Father God that your thoughts and ways are higher than my  ways. Help me to know that even though I can’t see it or think it, that  your possibilities are endless.

Hebrews 4:12 For  the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest  two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and  marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Pray and Confess:

Thank you, Father God that your word is alive, powerful and sharper  than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit,  between the joints and marrow of my life. Thank you for exposing my  innermost thoughts and desires and aligning them with your word.

Romans 12:2 Don’t  copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you  into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to  know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Pray and Confess:

Holy Spirit help me to not copy the behaviour and customs of this  world. Father God transform me into a new person by changing the way I  think. Only then will I learn to know your will for me, which is good  and pleasing and perfect.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All  Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and  to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we  are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Pray and Confess:

Father God, thank You for your Holy Word. Please use it to correct me  and train me, so that I may be adequate, equipped for every good work  you have for me.

Proverbs 3:1-2  My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart. 2 If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying.

Pray and Confess:

Holy Spirit help me to not forget your teachings. Help me to keep  your commandments in my heart, for I desire length of days and years of  life and peace to be added to me.

Proverbs 4:6-7 Don’t turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you.Love her, and she will guard you. 7 Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.

Pray and Confess:

Father God, thank You for the wisdom your word provides for me. Help  me to stay focussed on your Word, so that it will guard me and help me  develop good judgement.

Joshua 1:8 Study  this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so  you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you  prosper and succeed in all you do.

Pray and Confess:

Holy Spirit, help me to keep your Word on my lips so that I can  meditate on it day and night, being careful to do everything written in  it. Then You will make me prosperous and successful in all that you give  me.

Ask Yourself:

#1: Would you use what you are thinking to counsel someone else?

#2: What is the first thing you think of when we wake up?

#3: When a challenge arises, do you resort to past unsuccessful-tactics to solve it or do you first go to prayer and the Word?

Be encouraged by your new identity in Jesus and stop looking for that old person and stop living in the past.
