Proverbs 16:9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.
1 – God is sovereign and can do anything He wants
2 – There is bad weather up ahead that we can’t see, that God wants us to steer clear of
3 – God wants us to take a different route to the same destination
4 – God wants to give us a break or a rest
5 – God wants to take us to an entirely different destination
6 – God wants us to take a layover and pick up new passengers
7 – God wants an emergency landing to terminate that flight entirely to protect us
If we know that God is sovereign, do we just sit around and wait for Him to commandeer our lives and put us on His auto pilot all the time? NO. We still need to learn to fly the plane (life).
Welcome to God’s flight (life) school.
The pilot, co-pilot, and flight crew all have to go to flight school and train for their roles. Only then, do they have the understanding and confidence on how a plane, flies with or without auto pilot.
With that, don’t expect God to always put your life on auto pilot. He wants us to learn and prepare to live through His word and Spirit. In doing so, it shows that we have faith that the plane (our life) is designed by God to fly. In fact, even when we are not on auto pilot, we are always connected to the control tower, communicating back and forth with the air traffic controller who is our Heavenly Father.
When we study from the holy bible, which is God’s flight (life) school, we are prepared to fly through any situation that may arise, as well as recognize when we are being hijacked by the enemy and know how to regain control of that situation in the mighty name of Jesus.
So why then does God sometimes put our lives on His auto pilot?
Simply because He loves us!
