John 14:16-17 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
GLORY BE TO GOD – How wonderful that HE sent the Holy Spirit to be with us always!
So, you are going along your Christian walk, loving God, serving others, praying, and hearing within your spirit, and then suddenly it happens – the ‘warm and fuzzies’ of the Holy Spirit disappear and you think you’ve been abandoned. You no longer feel, hear, or are emotionally aware of the Holy Spirit. I don’t know why this happens, but it does happen, and it’s at these times that we get discouraged.
However, if we believe by faith that we are saved through Jesus and that we are going to spend eternity with Him, even though we have never seen him, we must also believe by faith the Holy Spirit dwells inside of us whether or not we feel Him.
2 Corinthians 5:7 For we live by believing and not by seeing.
Romans 1:17 This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.
Hebrews 10:38 And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.
Perhaps when we don’t feel the Holy Spirit, is a time of growth!
Sometimes we believe that our faith grows only by enduring trying times of sorts, but have we ever considered that when the Holy Spirit is quiet is also a time to grow in faith?
James 1:3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow
So, what do you do when you don’t feel the ‘warm & fuzzies’ from the Holy Spirit?
How do you move forward?
How do you act and interact?
You carry on as usual!
You keep rowing the boat, in the direction that you know based on:
• The Word of God
• What the Holy Spirit has already asked you to do
• The counsel, comfort, and guidance the Holy Spirit has already provided
• The examples set by Jesus
• A renewed mind
• How you have seen God move in the past
• Answered prayers
ACTION: Keep a journal to remind you of these things!
You respond the same way out of FAITH
You live out the instruction of the Word of God by faith
You love and serve by faith
You lean into the Holy Spirit by faith
